In a move that will probably anger book exchange companies such as Chegg.com, Seattle based e-commerce retail giant, Amazon.com recently announced that it will begin offering book rental services. The move which is sure to bring excitement among college students promises to save students up to 70% of the retail price on books.

The new service which is more of an extension of Amazon's textbook offerings will allow students to search for their required reading books on the site and pay the required fee. The student will also have to pay the shipping cost; however, at the end of the semester (130 days according to the site), students must return the book and Amazon will even foot the cost of return shipping.

With Amazon's Student Prime membership students can avoid the initial shipping cost, or students can order more than $25 worth to waive shipping fees — which is certainly not too difficult considering the normal course-load for college student.
